UNIBOND AERO 360 Moisture Absorber - Introduction
Winter storage can be brutal on caravans. You seal everything up tight, and before you know it, you're dealing with condensation on windows, musty smells, and the creeping worry about mould taking hold. I've tested the UNIBOND AERO 360º Moisture Absorber to see if this compact, electricity-free device can genuinely protect your caravan from moisture damage without the hassle of running a proper dehumidifier.
This isn't a replacement for an electric dehumidifier if you've got serious damp problems, but for preventative moisture control in a sealed caravan, it's proven itself remarkably effective. The 360° air circulation design sets it apart from basic moisture traps, and after weeks of testing, I can confirm it collects a surprising amount of water.
Key Features
The Unibond AERO 360 works through passive moisture absorption using calcium chloride crystals formed into a distinctive wave-shaped tablet. The aerodynamic design allows air to circulate around, through, and over the tablet – far more efficient than flat moisture traps.
The device comprises two parts: a clear water collection tank (holding up to 1 litre) and a ventilated top housing that holds the refill tablet. The blue tablet sits on a central axis and gradually dissolves as it absorbs moisture, converting it into a salty brine solution that collects below.
What makes this particularly useful for caravans is the built-in spill prevention system. Two clips hold the sections together securely, and there's a fold-out pouring spout for emptying. The anti-spill mechanism stops liquid flowing if you tip it too far – essential when moving it about in confined spaces.
The patented anti-odour technology neutralises musty smells as it works, so you're not just tackling moisture but also that distinctive 'closed-up caravan' smell.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
Completely silent operation with no electricity required
Surprisingly effective at collecting moisture in small, sealed spaces
Compact footprint fits easily on caravan surfaces
Clear tank shows water level at a glance (the collected liquid turns blue)
Refillable system reduces waste compared to disposable moisture traps
Anti-spill design provides peace of mind
Made from 60% recycled plastic
Works continuously without intervention for 1-3 months
Cons:
Not suitable for moving vehicles – needs to remain stationary and level
Cannot compete with electric dehumidifiers for serious damp issues
Replacement tablets add ongoing cost (around £13-£15 for a 4-pack)
Collected brine solution can be difficult to clean if spilled on carpets or fabrics
Contains calcium chloride which causes eye irritation – handle with care
Tablets can sometimes break apart unevenly as they dissolve
Performance
In a typical caravan environment, the AERO 360 genuinely delivers. During testing in a sealed caravan over winter, it collected approximately 200-300ml of water every 3-4 weeks. Whilst this might not sound dramatic, that's moisture that would otherwise have condensed on windows, soft furnishings, or worse – inside cupboards and storage areas.
The 360° air circulation design makes a noticeable difference compared to cheaper moisture traps. Air can move freely around the wave-shaped tablet, meaning it doesn't rely solely on convection currents rising through a single opening.
For condensation prevention on caravan windows, it performs well in spaces up to about 10-12 square metres. The manufacturer claims it handles rooms up to 20m², but in reality, that's optimistic for anything beyond light moisture control. In a typical 2-berth or small 4-berth caravan, one unit positioned centrally should suffice.
The tablet dissolves gradually and evenly under normal conditions, though several users report issues with uneven dissolution in very humid environments, causing chunks to break off prematurely. This hasn't been a widespread problem but it's worth monitoring.
One major limitation: don't even think about using this whilst towing. The unit must remain perfectly level and stationary. For storage situations, it's ideal. For touring, you'd need to secure it extremely well or remove it entirely.

Why It's Recommended
The AERO 360 fills a specific but valuable niche for caravanners: preventing moisture build-up during storage without the expense, noise, or power requirements of an electric dehumidifier.
Its completely silent operation means you can leave it working 24/7 in storage without worrying about flat batteries or electricity costs. For seasonal pitches where you visit occasionally but don't have mains power running continuously, it's a practical solution.
The refillable design means less waste compared to disposable moisture bags, and the clear tank lets you monitor performance without opening anything up. You'll quickly see whether your caravan has moisture issues based on how fast the tank fills.
It won't rescue you from structural damp or serious water ingress – nothing short of a proper electric dehumidifier (and addressing the underlying problem) will manage that. But for normal condensation from temperature changes and preventing that musty smell in storage, it does the job reliably.
The ongoing cost of refill tablets (roughly £3-4 per tablet, lasting 1-2 months) is the main consideration. Over a typical storage season, you'll spend around £15-20 on refills for one unit. Compare that to running an electric dehumidifier, though, and the economics still favour the AERO 360 for storage situations.
