Hi RoadRambler,

Thanks for the warm welcome and awesome advice! Practicing in a car park is definitely on my to-do list before towing my Sprite. And I'm adding a leveling ramp to my shopping list, hadn't considered that!

Riverside Caravan Park sounds ideal for my first trip since I'm nervous about narrow roads. Being right off the A38 feels so much less daunting!

I'm planning a weekend in Devon or Cornwall to keep things simple.

Any must-do activities near Riverside you'd suggest? Also, how do you check if your caravan's properly levelled? I want to get it right.

Cheers,

Hey Happy Camper,

Welcome to caravanning! You’ll get the hang of it in no time. My top tip for a beginner: practice towing in a quiet car park to get comfy with your Sprite, especially reversing. Pack a levelling ramp, it’s a lifesaver for uneven pitches.

For an easy first trip, I recommend Riverside Caravan Park near Plymouth. It’s right off the A38, so no scary narrow roads, and the flat pitches and friendly staff make setup a breeze. Perfect for newbies!

Where are you planning your first adventure? Let us know how it goes!

Happy travels,

Hi all,

Just joined this caravan forum and I'm stoked! I’m picking up my first caravan (a compact second-hand Sprite) next week and planning a short UK trip. Total beginner here, so feeling a bit overwhelmed!

What’s one essential tip you’d share for a first-time caravanner? Maybe a towing trick, a must-have item for the caravan, or a common mistake to avoid? Also, any beginner-friendly UK campsites you love?

Can’t wait to hear your advice!
